I am so excited to finally share these wonderful images of a good friend of mine, Doug Dorward, which were done in April of this year, for his debut album entitled "Waves". It was released only a few days ago, and all I have to say, is that it sounds amazing. He brings traditional Scottish and Newfoundland tunes together ... a first on this island, if I'm correct.
We had the pleasure of visiting a number of well-know sites around St. John's, Newfoundland & Labrador. We were able to catch sunrise at Cape Spear, took to the beach in Middle Cove, and certainly not least, but last, the fishing outport of Quidi Vidi. All of these locations provide outstanding backdrops for any musician, and certainly for a fiddle.
Before I jump into the images themselves, please visit the following links: Doug's website, his album is now available on iTunes, and watch Phil Maloney's video (filmed at Mallard Cottage) of Doug (with fellow musicians) playing the first tune on the album: Morag and Binker’s.
Please enjoy the following photographs of our day in April.
