I really enjoyed taking photos at Tonya and Vic’s wedding this past August. It was a wonderful St. John’s day, with a little dose of warmth and with loads of rain. It made things interesting, to say the least! In my old days of teaching photography at Henry’s, I had the chance to meet Tonya at one of my classes. She then took another few more courses with me. We’ve kept in touch ever since! I’m glad, and honoured, that she messaged me to take photos of her wedding. It was a great little day of happiness!
“I'm just going to take a second to include a little dash of appreciation here. We were engaged for almost 4 years before getting married. Through all of the life things that happened, our wedding kept getting postponed. Given that we're pretty private people - neither of use like the spotlight - it didn't take me long to realize that we didn't need the traditional wedding, we just wanted to be married. Eloping as we did was never really a 'plan', but something we just did because it felt right. However, the wedding industry is similar to that of Wonderland. Vendors book upwards to two to three years in advance and things can we quite difficult to navigate. In saying that, I was able to pull things together in 3 weeks - and with our first choice vendors! I will never be able to truly express my appreciation or gratitude for you that day, the girls from By Sharpe Design, or Jane. You three helped make our imperfect day one that we'll remember always. Was is 'picture perfect'? About as far from it as my Type A personality could imagine. We had hiccups throughout the whole thing. No time to get clothing altered - no problem! No time for a shattered windshield - hell, just toss that in there too! One of the rainiest days of the summer? Sure! What's a wedding day without a rainy day run down water street in heels and a wedding dress?! And through it all - you captured us. And that means more to me than I could ever possibly convey.”
